Distinguish Real Diamonds

We all hear the same question from time to time, where are your diamonds different from those of major brands? Is there a way to know if the diamond is real?

Diamonds are real. As long as they have a GIA certificate, there is no difference between diamonds from big stores and small stores.
Of course we understand the reason for the customer's problem, because the price is really different from that of chain stores, so we will introduce some of the most accurate inspection methods!

1) Use a magnifying glass to compare the GIA number on the diamond

Nearly 99% of GIA diamonds are engraved with a unique GIA number on the girdle , which can be clearly seen through a magnifying glass (20 times or more). Since putting precise laser numbers on the girdle of a diamond is not a simple technology, This method is most commonly used in the market.

2) Use a diamond thermal conductivity tester (drill test pen)

Thermal conductivity refers to the ability of a material to directly conduct heat energy. Since diamond has a very strong thermal conductivity, using a diamond thermal conductivity tester is a fast and accurate method.

It can instantly test diamonds of various sizes and shapes. When the instrument directly contacts the diamond surface, it will immediately mark whether it is genuine or fake. The new diamond measuring pen can easily distinguish the moissanite that is most similar to a diamond. (Some shops claim that moissanite can pass diamond test pens, but they use the oldest diamond test pens to hide it.)

The Gemlogis Diamond Testor used by Gemlogis is one of the highest-end diamond testing pens in the industry, so it can easily identify the moissanite that most closely resembles a diamond.

3) GIA diamond grading report review service (100% accurate)

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has established an official laboratory in Hong Kong, which can provide customers with the service of reviewing or verifying all issued GIA diamond grading reports to verify whether the GIA diamond grading certificate received by the customer is consistent with the diamond purchased by the customer. . Diamania provides a re-examination service sent to the GIA Laboratory in Hong Kong to protect the interests of customers and give customers the greatest confidence (from October 1, 2021, the GIA Laboratory in Hong Kong only provides this service for loose diamonds) .

Please note that the review or verification service takes approximately two weeks . As for the price, the customer needs to pay directly to GIA, which is usually several hundred Hong Kong dollars. Relevant details and fees can be found on this page .

There are many seemingly simple and quick methods circulating in the market to identify the authenticity of diamonds. We do not recommend customers to use some of them, such as the refraction test (the diamond is placed tabletop down on white paper with black lines), the fog test (the diamond is placed on white paper with black lines on it) Breathe gently on the surface) and hardness test (use a pen to lightly scratch the surface of the diamond). Because the precision and accuracy of the above methods are low, it is difficult for customers to judge the results, and there may be exceptions that affect the credibility of the identification results, so they are not acceptable.
